PROVO A woman accused of shaking a baby to death pleaded not guilty Friday to charges against her.
Daniella Ruiz, 24, of Provo, is charged with child abuse homicide or murder of 5-month-old Brandon Zamora on Jan. 4.
An eight-day trial will begin March 12.
Police say Ruiz called police to report that the child she was baby-sitting wasn't breathing. She was coached by 911 dispatchers to do CPR but the child later died at Primary Children's Medical Center.
Medical examiners testified at a preliminary hearing that the child had a suffered a swollen and bleeding brain and internal bruising.
However, Ruiz's attorney, John Easton, argues that the child was injured before his parents took him to Ruiz's house.
