Kaysville, Fruit Heights City Councils to fill seats

The application period for people interested in filling vacant city council seats in Kaysville and Fruit Heights closed over the weekend, leaving a field of 17 candidates in Kaysville and four in Fruit Heights.

On Nov. 14, the Kaysville City Council is expecting to interview the candidates, who include former council members John McCleary and Arthur Johnson; former candidate for Davis County Sheriff Todd Richardson; Michael Chabries, who is an administrative aide to Salt Lake County Councilman Cort Ashton; and Steve Major, deputy Davis County attorney.

The winning candidate will be sworn in that night to replace Casey Hill, who resigned in October to take a job with the American Heart Association.

On Nov. 21, the Fruit Heights City Council will interview and select a replacement for Hoyt Stephenson, who is moving to Wyoming. The candidates are Kenneth Frost, Craig Hill, Lincoln Homer and James Knight. The selected council member will be sworn in Dec. 5.
