The chairman of the Summit County Democratic Party has struck a plea deal with prosecutors in a drunken-driving case.
Rob Weyher, 54, appeared Wednesday in Silver Summit's 3rd District Court and pleaded guilty to reduced charges of attempted assault against a police officer and reckless driving, class B misdemeanors. In exchange, prosecutors dismissed charges of interfering with an arrest, failure to signal and speeding.
Court records show Weyher entered into a plea in abeyance, in which the case will be dismissed in one year if he breaks no other laws. A judge sentenced Weyher to 12 months probation and ordered him to pay nearly $1,000 in fines.
Weyher was arrested in April when a Utah Highway Patrol trooper pulled his vehicle over near Kimball Junction for speeding. The UHP said Weyher became combative after field sobriety tests were administered.
