Mountain View to present 'Les Miz'

OREM — The music of "Les Miserables" school edition will be performed at Mountain View High School by students this month.

The classic Victor Hugo tale of Jean Valjean, a man who overcomes a troubled past and becomes a force for good, will be portrayed by more than 96 students.

Brad Leavitt sings the part of Valjean.

Talia Smoot is Eponine, and a junior high student, Kassidy Beckstrand, is Cosette. Other cast members include Rachel Anderson as Fantine, Holly Nelson as Madame Thenardier, Andrew Walsh as Thenardier, Chase Ramsey as Marius, Cassie Hess as the adult Cosette and Randall Elssworth as Javert. Junior high student Rian Shepherd plays young Eponine, and Ethan Evens plays young Gavroche.

The performance is directed by Nathan Criman.

A full live orchestra of high school students will accompany the singers.
