Avoiding the gluten
If you're cooking fried foods such as french fries, don't cook breaded items in the same oil beforehand.
Check the label on your turkey. Some self-basting turkeys have wheat in the marinade.
Don't get even a drop of wheat flour on a spatula or use a little wheat flour to keep candy or dough from sticking.
It's best to store sorghum and other exotic flours in the fridge.
When eating at someone else's house on Thanksgiving, ask them to avoid sprinkling wheat flour in the turkey cooking bag. Provide your host with a nongluten flour ahead of Thanksgiving Day.
Use a dedicated toaster, avoid Teflon pans that can hang onto gluten and carefully wash your countertops, beaters, mixers, bowls and pans to rid them of all gluten before you bake any gluten-free foods.
