Today on TV

Election coverage: There's lots of coverage on the various cable networks (MSNBC starts at 3 p.m.; CNN and FNC begin at 5 p.m.; and C-SPAN at 6 p.m.) Among the broadcast networks, NBC (Ch. 5) has an hour at 8 p.m.; PBS (Ch. 11) has two hours at 8 p.m.; ABC (Ch. 4) has a half hour at 8:30 p.m.; and CBS (Ch. 2) has an hour at 9 p.m.

• And don't forget Comedy Central's Indecision 2006: The Midterm Midtacular (live at 9 p.m. on satellite systems; midnight, taped, on most cable systems), a combined effort from "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" that promises to be far more entertaining — and, sadly enough, more informative — than a lot of the other coverage.

NCIS (7 p.m., Ch. 2): A Marine colonel is killed in what may be a terrorist bombing. (Postponed from an earlier date.)

Dancing with the Stars (7 p.m., Ch. 4): The contestants perform.

Friday Night Lights (7 p.m., Ch. 5): The Panthers may have to forfeit their big win if they're found guilty of illegal recruiting. (What? High school recruiting is illegal? Living in Utah, I would never have thought so.)

Gilmore Girls (7 p.m., Ch. 30): It's parents weekend at Yale, and not only are Lorelai and Christopher visiting, but so are Emily and Richard.

The Unit (8 p.m., Ch. 2): Jonas and Bob go on an unofficial mission that could cost them their jobs.

House (8 p.m., Ch. 13): One of the cases involves a 600-pound man.

Veronica Mars (8 p.m., Ch. 30): Veronica is accused of plagiarism.

Law & Order: Criminal Investigation (9 p.m., Ch. 5): A music producer is the victim of a hit-and-run?

Paula Poundstone: Look What the Cat Dragged In (11 p.m., Bravo): Poundstone is back after a variety of personal and legal problems, and she's as hilarious as ever. This is a very funny hour of stand-up comedy.
