Man sentenced for child porn conviction
Joseph Record, 54, was sentenced during a hearing in U.S. District Court on Monday.
Record's brother, Daniel Record, pleaded guilty on Oct. 3 to one count of possession of child pornography and is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 30.
According to federal charges, Daniel Record had been e-mailing his brother child pornography when Joseph Record was arrested. Joseph Record had given an undercover officer two CDs with more than 600 pornographic images, some which were child pornography.
After his arrest, Joseph Record called his brother from jail and told him to remove evidence of the e-mails from his computer.
U.S. District Court Judge Ted Stewart ordered the mandatory minimum sentence Monday because Record had a previous child-sex-abuse-related conviction and is already listed on the Utah Sex Offender Registry, according to a statement from U.S. District Court spokeswoman Melodie Rydalch.
