Thank you, James Sorenson

I publicly express my profound gratitude to James Sorenson for his unique and generous contribution to personally fund Utah adult Medicaid dental benefits this year.

Unfortunately, the state Legislature didn't see fit to provide vital dental services to Utah's poor, disabled and handicapped. My Medicaid dental patients asked why the state had $30 million for a parking lot, $150 million for the Capitol renovation and other expensive projects but didn't fund their dental care. At a time of budget surpluses, I can't explain why state representatives, "of the people, by the people, and for the people" failed to provide dental benefits to the most vulnerable citizens of our community.

Sorenson truly deserves recognition for giving Utah's poor something to smile about.
