FARMINGTON — Prosecutors have filed criminal charges against a West Bountiful man arrested on suspicion of 62 counts of child sex abuse.

The Davis County Attorney's Office only filed five charges Monday against Benjamin Evans Turner, 47, but did not rule out any additional charges. Turner was charged with aggravated sex abuse of a child, a first-degree felony; two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony; and two counts of sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor.

"We have filed the charges we feel comfortable with based on the evidence at this time," deputy prosecutor Troy Rawlings said Tuesday. "The investigation is ongoing."

West Bountiful police were barely questioning the alleged victims on Tuesday, despite arresting Turner on Sunday. According to a probable cause statement filed with the charges, police allege Turner had been viewing child pornography on a home computer.

"During the last few years, the defendant has also touched the breasts of three minor females," West Bountiful Police detective Corey Hamilton wrote. "The touching has been over the clothing."

Turner remains in the Davis County Jail on $50,000 bail.
