The Grand America is hosting several autumn events: The Garden Cafe currently offers a pumpkin-tasting menu of roasted pumpkin risotto with grilled prawn; grilled double-cut pork chop with pumpkin spaetzle; Braeburn apple sauce and brandied cider jus; spicy gingerbread with pumpkin ice cream, candied pecans and caramel sauce, for $25. The restaurant also offers a Seafood Experience buffet Saturdays, 5-9 p.m., featuring king crab legs, cedar plank salmon, seafood stew, a raw bar, sushi and fresh fish of the day, for $32 (258-6708). The Grand America's Witches Brew Tea is Tuesday, 2-5 p.m., in the lobby lounge. The menu includes specialty teas, sandwiches and spooky treats. Cost is $16 (258-6707).
Little America, 500 S. Main, is also hosting a Witches Brew Tea Tuesday, with seating for either 1 or 3 p.m. There will be tea, hot chocolate, "black widow" punch, finger sandwiches and treats. Prizes for the best witch's costume and hat will be awarded. Cost is $15.95 (596-5799 or www.littleamerica.com/slc).
Wienerschnitzel is offering a new Philly Cheese Steak Trio the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, the Philly Burger and the Philly Dog. They are available at restaurants nationwide.
The Utah Gluten Intolerance Group hosts its fifth annual Gluten-Free Pre-Thanksgiving Feast Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Wasatch Presbyterian Church hall, 1700 South and 1700 East. The event is open to anyone who is gluten-intolerant or has celiac disease, and their families.
The menu includes turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, stuffing, candied yams and vegetables. Side dishes are provided by those who attend. Recipes for gluten-free pies, cookies, stuffing, rolls and turkey will be given out. Advance tickets are $8 per person or $16 for a family of four, if purchased by Oct. 31 (www.gfutah.org or 801-486-4140).
