Helping hand
Salt Lake County Clerk Poll volunteers needed to help on Nov. 7 for Election Day. Volunteers need to be available the entire day.
Friends for Sight Volunteers are needed to follow up preschool vision screenings. Volunteers will call parents to make sure preschoolers get eye exams. This should only take two to three hours per week. Volunteers will log referrals for records.
Utah Food Bank Services Volunteers are needed to rake leaves for seniors and people with disabilities beginning Nov. 4. Volunteers are also needed to help shut down swamp coolers.
The Utah Humanities Council The Utah Humanities is seeking volunteers for two-hour shifts at the Great Salt Lake Book Festival on Saturday, Oct. 28, 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Main Library.
Salt Lake Visitor Information Bureau Volunteers needed to assist in running the National Tourism Association Conference beginning Nov. 2.
Utah Federation for Youth Mentors/tutors needed to help supervise EnviroLeaders program activities, which prepare disadvantaged/at-risk high school students to help elementary school students become passionate about protecting the natural world.
Boys & Girls Clubs Volunteers are needed at the ticket booth at Rocky Point Haunted House nightly through Oct. 31. Volunteers receive free admission to the haunted house and a T-shirt. Four to six volunteers are needed each night.
Mutual UFO Network A variety of opportunities available, including Web site design.
LDS Hospital An enthusiastic volunteer to assist with recruiting and retaining research participants with Alzheimer's disease as they complete a six-month exercise program. Create a cohesive, inspiring group of seniors working toward wellness. Volunteer needed eight hours a week for nine months.
Salvation Army Angel Tree needs volunteers for the following: help with the application process; set up and organize gifts received; distribute gifts to the parents the week before Christmas.
Discovery Academy Volunteers needed to help at carnival from 4-9 p.m. on Oct. 30. Volunteers will assist with a variety of carnival activities.
