Tips for using stamps
Choose the appropriate ink for your project. Craft inks work on paper, fabric and wood. Acrylics are best for walls.
Clean stamps before putting them away. You can clean them with a mild soap, but avoid getting wood parts wet. You can also get special cleaning pads that let you press the stamp on the pad and wipe away the paint.
Make sure the stamp is inked evenly. Ink pads are a popular way to ink the stamp, but you can also brush on paint with a paintbrush or use markers.
If you are stamping on walls, keep a wet cloth handy. If you make a mistake, you can wipe it off before it dries.
If you are making cards, don't forget the envelopes. A matching design can be stamped on the envelope to tie them together.
Try two-tone stamping. You can use different stamps on top of each other. Or, you can stamp an outline and then color it in with paints, crayons, markers or other colors.
Don't be afraid to experiment with different materials, textures and effects.
Have fun.
