WOMEN'S GOLF: Golfweek has named BYU senior Rachel Newren its women's player of the week. Newren won the Ron Moore Intercollegiate Sept. 26 with rounds of 70-69-67 for a 10-under 206. Her final-round 67 tied the Highlands Ranch GC course record, and her total score of 206 also shattered the 54-hole BYU individual record by eight shots. In the process, Newren also broke the 36-hole record with a 139. This is her 20th top-20 appearance.

SOCCER: After four straight home games, the No. 9 Cougars (9-1-1) hit the road to begin Mountain West Conference play this week. BYU faces TCU (5-5-1) Thursday at 6 p.m. MDT, and arch rival Utah Saturday at 1 p.m.

CROSS COUNTRY: The MWC honored BYU's Josh Rohatinsky and Kassi Andersen as the men's and women's cross country athletes of the week.

TENNIS: BYU's doubles duo of Chip Hand and Jonathan Sanchez easily defeated the TCU duo of Andrew Ulrich and Stuart Row, 8-5, but then dropped a disappointing match to a doubles duo from Northwestern to end their run at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-America Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Tuesday.

Utah State

CROSS COUNTRY: Utah State junior Stacie Lifferth was named the Western Athletic Conference women's cross country athlete of the week for her performance at the Bill Dellinger Invitational at the University of Oregon. Lifferth led the women's team in the 6,000-meter race taking 40th-place overall with a time of 21:49.90.

SOCCER: Utah State soccer continued its winning ways at home Monday as the Aggies defeated San Francisco, 1-0, at Chuck & Gloria Bell Soccer Field. With the win, the Aggies are unbeaten in 10 of their last 12 home matches, as USU notched its second-straight shutout victory and fourth of the season.

VOLLEYBALL: Utah State (10-8, 3-1) continues Western Athletic Conference play this week as it travels to Nevada (9-6, 3-0) on Wednesday, and to 15th-ranked Hawaii (9-4, 3-0) on Friday.

Weber State

FOOTBALL: Weber State's Tyler DeBry was named the Big Sky Conference Tri-Defensive Player of the Week. He shares the honor with Montana defensive end Kroy Biermann and Sacramento State middle linebacker Cyrus Mulitatlo. DeBry recorded a career high 16 total tackles (three unassisted) and had his first career interception in WSU's 26-21 win over Northern Colorado.
