The Utah Department of Transportation still has decals available for motorists who want to drive solo in the carpool lane, or express lane. The decals are $50 a month.
On Sept. 1, UDOT sold 600 decals for motorists to use the lanes its first sale to the public. On Monday, the agency offered another 500 for sale. About 200 were remaining early Tuesday.
UDOT spokesman Nile Easton said Tuesday that of the initial 600 decals that were sold, only 14 people have declined to renew and pay the $50 fee for continued access to the carpool lane. "It seems to be well liked by the users," he said.
