GRADE A
Offense
Led by a makeshift offensive line and John Beck's three TDs, the Cougars looked almost perfect in marching for consistent scoring drives. BYU's ability to run the ball with Curtis Brown opened up the play-action passing game.
GRADE A
Defense
Led by linebackers Cameron Jensen and Bryan Kehl, the Cougars came up with two key turnovers and made TCU play outside its comfort zone by limiting big plays and requiring Jeff Ballard and Aaron Brown to produce long, multiplay drives to come up with points.
GRADE A
Special teams
This game marked the most consistent special teams play for the Cougars this season. Jared McLaughlin hit his only field goal, a 21-yarder to open the scoring. His kickoffs limited returns, and the coverage was excellent.
GRADE A
Overall
The 31-17 win over nationally ranked TCU was simply the best overall performance by a Bronco Mendenhall team in his two years at the helm. The effort and performance on all three phases was clearly a step up for the squad.
