Four Utah hospitals have been honored with the HealthInsight Quality Award at the Utah Hospitals and Health Systems Association annual meeting: Davis Hospital and Medical Center, LDS Hospital, Lakeview Hospital and University of Utah Hospital.
HealthInsight is the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Utah and Nevada.
It honored hospitals selected for demonstrating high quality health care and excellence in performance on publicly reported quality of care measures. These measures come from data that is voluntarily reported by hospitals across the nation. The national hospital rankings used to select recipients are available by visiting www.healthinsight.org.
The award was launched two years ago to promote transparency in health care, defined by the Institute of Medicine as "accountable to the public, works openly, makes results known, and builds trust through disclosure."
The hospital quality data is available by visiting www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov or www.medicare.gov and selecting Compare Hospitals in Your Area, or by calling 1-800-633-4227.
