Syracuse Council picks new member
Truman resigned from the council in August to move his family to Brentwood, Tenn., for a job promotion. Steel, a former Riverdale city manager and Kaysville city recorder, threw his hat into the ring when Truman offered his resignation, as did 11 other applicants.
Steel is the chief executive officer of the Utah Risk Management Mutual Association and said he has wanted to get involved in policymaking decisions for a while. He said growth and transportation are huge issues for Syracuse right now, as well as public works projects and construction of a new city hall.
His term on the council will expire on Jan. 1, 2008, and he expects to run for the seat in the November 2007 election.
