Waterford wins Region 14 golf title

Waterford won the Region 14 golf title behind sophomore medalist Blake Peterson's 3-under-par 69 at the Ranches Golf Course.

Using a point system that combines regular season matches and Monday's final region tournament, Waterford accumulated 49 points to edge Rowland Hall-St. Marks' 47 points for the title.

Kyle Higginson of Juab was the second-place medalist, besting his teammate Luke Flickinger (third) and Rowland Hall-St. Marks Eric Hutchinson (fourth) in a three-man sudden death playoff.

The top five teams from Region 14 advance to the 2A state golf tournament Oct. 11 and 12 at the East Bay Golf Course in Provo.

Kody Braithwaite will represent North Summit as its individual representative.
