SEAN TAYLOR, Jordan: This signal-caller continues to emerge as one of the state's elite quarterbacks.

Five games into his senior season, Taylor has already thrown for 1,037 yards and 15 TDs while leading the third-ranked 'Diggers to a 4-1 record.

Jordan will look to Taylor as it attempts to win Region 2 and advance deep into the playoffs.

"We're going to go as far as Sean Taylor can take us," said coach Alex Jacobson.

Under the guidance of quarterbacks coach Eric Kjar, Taylor has grasped the Beetdiggers' complex offense.

Jacobson said the quarterback is a great leader at practice.

"This sounds stupid, but he makes practice fun," said Jacobson.

Taylor has a GPA over 3.0.

MIRANDA MILES, South Sevier: This senior tennis star had a great week - both on and off the tennis court.

First, she was named homecoming queen by her classmates, then she went on to win three matches Saturday to win the Southern Division 2A Tennis Tournament at Manti last weekend. Her first-place finish in first singles qualifies her for the 2A state tournament this weekend.

"Miranda is a very talented tennis player," said coach Kraig Nilsson. "She's a hard worker and over the last year she's developed a very good serve."

Miles finishes the season with a 9-1 record. She's a personable player who gets a long well with her teammates.

She was the Rams' most valuable player last season and is on pace to be the MVP again this year.
