Sunday
Paul Konerko, White Sox, had two home runs and four RBIs to lead Chicago to a 12-7 victory over Seattle.
Grady Sizemore, Indians, hit two home runs, including an inside-the-park homer for his major league-leading 90th extra-base hit, as Cleveland beat Texas 11-6.
Chase Utley, Phillies, homered twice and drove in four runs as Philadelphia outlasted Florida 10-7.
Nomar Garciaparra, Dodgers, hit a two-out, walk-off grand slam that gave Los Angeles a 5-1 victory over Arizona.
SAVE KING
Trevor Hoffman became baseball's all-time saves leader on Sunday, earning No. 479 to pass Lee Smith and help NL West-leading San Diego beat Pittsburgh 2-1. It was his NL-leading 43rd save in 48 chances. Smith piled up 478 saves from 1980-1997.
EYE OF THE TIGER
Detroit fought off a late-season slump and clinched its first playoff berth since 1987, scoring nine runs in the second inning en route to an 11-4 win over Kansas City on Sunday. In 1987, the Tigers won the AL East, but lost to Minnesota 4-1 in the league championship series.
CHIEF SIZEMORE
Cleveland leadoff hitter Grady Sizemore hit two home runs, including an inside-the-park homer for his major league-leading 90th extra-base hit, as the Indians won 11-6 Sunday to spoil Texas' home finale. The 90 extra-base hits by Sizemore are the most by a leadoff hitter since Alfonso Soriano had 89 with the New York Yankees in 2002, which was then the most since 1957. Sizemore leads the majors with 131 runs scored, to go along with his 52 doubles, 11 triples and 27 home runs. He is only a week shy of becoming the first Indian since Joe Carter in 1989 to play in all 162 games.
ROAD WARRIOR
David Ortiz hit his 53rd homer and 32nd on the road in Boston's 13-4 loss to Toronto on Sunday. The blast tied Babe Ruth for most home runs on the road in AL history.
STREAKS
Philadelphia overcame a four-run deficit and beat Florida 10-7 Sunday for its fifth straight win.
