Last week: BYU lost to Boston College in double OT. Utah State lost to Utah in Logan.

Last meeting: In 2002, the Cougars defeated the Aggies 35-34 in Logan.

Trends to watch: The Cougars have defeated the Aggies 18 straight times in Provo. Utah State's offense has yet to produce a touchdown through three games. This is USU coach Brent Guy's first game as head coach in LaVell Edwards Stadium and the first Aggie game for BYU's Bronco Mendenhall as a head coach.

Players to watch: BYU's Curtis Brown is averaging 4.2 yards per carry but has also become one of BYU's leading receivers with 20 catches in three games. Aggie running back Marcus Cross is averaging 3.7 yards per rush.

Utah State will win if ... the Aggies get six turnovers from BYU and score on all of them.

BYU will win if ... the Cougars can force turnovers off the mistake-prone young Aggie offense, run the ball consistently and get Jason Beck through the game without more than three interceptions.

Extra points: Marketeers at BYU are asking Cougar fans to wear white shirts to today's contest. Today's game marks a return of this series between the two instate schools after skipping seasons 2003 through 2005. This is the first and only time the Cougars will play a WAC team this season and is the final non-conference game of the year. Starting QB John Beck (ankle sprains) was cleared to practice on Thursday by BYU's medical staff but after a brief try to go, it was decided he would limit his participating in practice after wearing a restrictive boot since Saturday. Brown ranks No. 6 on BYU's career rushing list and could move past Pete Van Valkenburg with 86 yards today.
