The Salt Lake County Council passed a resolution Tuesday on how it plans to spend a $48 million bond for preserving open space, if voters approve that bond.

The council's resolution said that half the money would be used to buy land for future parks. The county would spend the other $24 million on open space, natural habitat and community trails.

Come November, voters will be asked to approve the bond, which would provide funds for the county to buy land for parks, trails and natural open space. The council voted in August to put the open-space initiative on the ballot.
