James R. Michie Jr. has been appointed by Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. to serve as a juvenile judge in 3rd District Court. Michie currently works as an attorney in the state Guardian ad Litem's Office, which represents youths who have been abused, neglected or abandoned.

The Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee is seeking public comment about Michie before the full Senate takes action on the appointment. Anyone who wants to comment can write to Jerry Howe at the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, Utah State Capitol Complex, W210 House Building, Salt Lake City, UT 84114-5210.

Written materials should be submitted by 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, and should include the writer's name, phone number and mailing address.
