Henri Bisson was named deputy director of operations for the Bureau of Land Management Thursday.
Bisson, currently BLM director for Alaska, was promoted for his management experience and more than 30-year career in federal government, among other qualifications, according to BLM spokeswoman Celia Boddington.
He will oversee the bureau's daily operations with a budget of more than $1.7 billion and more than 9,000 employees. Bisson will assume his position in early November.
Bisson, originally from New Hampshire, has served in BLM capacities across the country and recently served a three-month period acting as state director of the BLM in Utah.
