All 82 Utah Jazz games for the 2006-07 season will, for the second year in a row, be televised even to Comcast cable subscribers who were shut out of many of the games last year, especially those before Christmas.
KJZZ TV and Fox Sports Net Utah will each air 40 regular-season games, and two more will be nationally televised Nov. 30 at the Los Angeles Lakers on TNT and Feb. 23 at Denver on ESPN. Another five will be simulcast on either KJZZ or Fox plus NBA TV.
"We are excited that once again all 82 games will be televised this year," said Randy Rigby, senior vice president of broadcasting for the Utah Jazz and general manager of KJZZ. "The mix of games on KJZZ and FSN Utah provides us with as strong a broadcasting schedule as the Jazz has ever had."
The Jazz's season opener with the Houston Rockets in the Delta Center on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. will be telecast on KJZZ.
The first game for a Fox Sports Net Utah broadcast will be on Saturday, Nov. 4, when the Golden State Warriors visit the Delta Center at 7 p.m.
"We're pleased that all 40 games on FSN Utah will be available to Jazz fans in Utah," said Tim Griggs, FSN Utah vice president and general manager. "The interest and popularity surrounding the Utah Jazz in this region is evident each and every season."
That was probably evident last season when Comcast, this area's primary cable carrier, and Fox could not agree on a "seven-figure" cost to carry a "premium" 13-game package offered by Fox Sports Net Utah. The games were seen on the top two area satellite providers, DISH and DirecTV, and Comcast subscribers were upset, though the total of 69 games was more than Comcast had carried previously, it said.
For the second season, Craig Bolerjack will be the play-by-play TV announcer, aided by long-time analyst Ron Boone, on both KJZZ and Fox Sports Net Utah broadcasts. "Hot" Rod Hundley will again handle the radio broadcasting duties.
