DRAPER — For their football game against rival Juan Diego, some Judge Memorial students brought a huge poster that claimed: "Our Catholics R Better!"

While that spiritual topic might be debated elsewhere, there was no doubt about which private Catholic school's team was best Friday night.

Yep, Judge fans can now add "Our Football Players R Better, too" to the sign. The visiting Bulldogs dominated the fifth-ranked and previously unbeaten Soaring Eagle from the get-go, jumping out to a four-touchdown lead en route to a convincing 27-14 victory.

Though he had plenty of help, Judge quarterback Jaxon Myaer did much of the damage with his lightning-quick feet and decision-making skills. He scored the first touchdown — a 27-yard keeper on the Bulldogs' opening drive —and kept Juan Diego defenders guessing (and missing) the rest of the night.

Myaer sparked Judge's rolling offense with 156 yards rushing on only seven carries. His longest scramble was a 60-yard run that set up Sean Sellwood's second field goal, a 20-yard boot that put the Bulldogs up 27-0 midway through the third quarter.

"I really think he was the difference in the game," said Juan Diego coach John Colosimo, whose team dropped to 3-1 heading into region play. "He got us off balance. We knew how talented he was and how elusive he was. We just didn't have an answer for him. He's a great player."

Along with Myaer's first-half score, Domonique Parker, who rushed for 103 yards, and Dom Lewis also found their ways into the end zone before halftime.

Parker's touchdown came on a 50-yard drive in the second quarter in which he accounted for 44 of the yards gained, including the 2-yard plunge that put Judge ahead 14-0 with 3:58 remaining in the second quarter.

Sellwood then chipped in a 34-yard field goal three minutes later, and Lewis poured salt on the Soaring Eagle's open wound by intercepting a shovel pass and taking it 31 yards for a touchdown with only 26.6 seconds to go in the half.

Judge's defense also did a job on Juan Diego in the first half, forcing the home squad to punt six times and only allowing the Soaring Eagle offense 69 yards.

"That first half was awesome," Myaer said. "We came out knowing we were going to punch them in the face."

Judge, now 3-1, opened the second half with three points. Juan Diego's offense finally got things going with two long scoring drives, capped by a 6-yard passing touchdown from Corey Lever to David Cassel and a 1-yard scoring run by Michael Allred. But it was too little, too late.

"That's going to be a dangerous football team," Colosimo said of Judge. "That Myaer just wills them to win."
