Colorado State 14, Colorado 10: Conventional wisdom dictates the Big 12 to be favored over the MWC and this shouldn't be any exception. But the Buff's loss to Montana State last week remains one of the great mysteries of the young college football season. Go Sonny Lubick.
TCU 40, Cal Davis 14: The Horned Frogs get a breather. Gary Patterson must have an agent scheduling his team these days. BYU and Utah coming off short weeks? The Toads are still the ones.
Iowa State 27, UNLV 21: The Rebels have actually showed some offensive muscle in posting 54 points on Idaho State. Can it last? Is it for real? This is a great test for the MWC to get some respect. Will it happen? Nope.
Tennessee 33, Air Force 10: The Vols destroyed Cal last week and will have little or no trouble figuring out how to hop over Falcon cut blocks.
New Mexico State 17, New Mexico 14: The Lobos are young and inexperienced and it showed last week when they got rolled over by Portland State at home. Yiiikes.
BYU 38, Tulsa 34: A much-needed opener at home for the Cougars, but it won't be easy. There are plenty of questions about the learning curve of BYU play calling on offense. Believe it, Tulsa's offensive coordinator and former BYU graduate assistant Charlie Stubbs would like this notch on his belt. Stubbs was on hold when BYU hired (almost simultaneously) Bronco Mendenhall and offensive coordinator Robert Anae.
Last week: 5-3 (.625).
