I refuse to believe that Salt Lake County Republican Party chairman James Evans actually believes that Mayor Rocky Anderson's speech to the throngs gathered to protest the administration was racist. Anyone who attended the rally, as I did, or read the transcript of the mayor's speech understood that the mayor used the word "slavish" in its general sense to refer to the supporters of the president in this state who refuse to question his leadership. The real offender here is Mr. Evans, who is exploiting a disingenuous allegation of racism to malign a political opponent.
