Suzie Jacobsen Balser, who just played Nellie Forbush in Tuacahn's "South Pacific," and her husband, Nathan Balser, a recent performer in Cathy Rigby's "Peter Pan," are among Utahns in the cast, with Jay Pierce as Old Deuteronomy.

Performances are nightly except Sundays at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $20-$44 (www.tuacahn.com). Preshow dinners served on the plaza at 6 p.m. are $8 for children and $11 for adults.

"IT'S A BIRD, IT'S A PLANE, IT'S SUPERMAN," with music by Charles Strouse ("Bye Bye Birdie," "Annie" and "Applause"), played for only 129 performances on Broadway during the spring of 1966 but is finding new life as a resurrected campy musical. It will play Friday through Oct. 2 at the SCERA Center, 745 S. State, Orem.

The show did deliver one fairly popular tune, "You've Got Possibilities," which was among the late Peggy Lee's hits. But on the camp side, the score also includes a song called "Pow! Bam! Zonk!"

Directed and choreographed by Mindy Young, the cast includes Phil Erickson in the title role, Karissa Flanagan as Lois Lane, Kevin Goertzen as the Daily Planet's narcissistic columnist Max Mencken, Marc Haddock as mad scientist Abner Sedgewick and Corinne Mayberry as Abner's girlfriend.

"THE TAMING OF THE SHREW," William Shakespeare's classic romantic comedy, is being staged by Wasatch Theatre Company from Friday through Sept. 30 in Columbus Center, 2530 S. 500 East.
