Lakers storm back vs. Braves

OGDEN — Bountiful started out strong on the road, but the Lakers overcame a 25-20 setback at the hands of the Braves in the first game to earn a Region 5 victory. Bonneville won the next three games by a combined margin of 10 points. Caitlin Penrod and Tiffany Helstrom each had 11 kills to lead Bonneville. Penrod added seven blocks and nine assists to her stat sheet, while Helstrom served up five aces.

REGION 1

NORTHRIDGE DEF. DAVIS 25-12, 25-20, 25-15: Amanda Goodrich finished with 27 assists to pace Northridge.

LAYTON DEF. WEBER 25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18: Stephanie Bronson had 16 kills and four blocks in a losing effort for Weber.

REGION 2

SKYLINE DEF. HILLCREST 25-8, 25-13, 25-17: Chelsea Faalogo had 20 assists and nine kills while Emilee Roberts had 15 digs in the Eagles' sweep.

BRIGHTON DEF. JORDAN 25-15, 25-6, 25-10: Cassandra Ricketts had nine kills, two blocks and two aces for Brighton.

REGION 5

SKY VIEW DEF. ROY 22-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-22: Sky View dropped the first game but won the next three as Kacie Egbert led the Bobcats with 21 digs and 15 kills.

BOX ELDER DEF. WOODS CROSS 25-19, 25-8, 25-21: Laura Chramm and Mandy Munns combined for 22 kills and nine blocks to lead Box Elder.

REGION 6

COTTONWOOD DEF. EAST 25-12, 25-11, 25-15: Cottonwood's Melissa Fifita and Diana Franca combined for 12 kills while Kylie Hudson added 10 blocks.

MURRAY DEF. HIGHLAND 25-12, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19: Junior outside hitter Micah Nieman led the Spartans to an upset of the 4A defending champions.

WEST DEF. CYPRUS 25-11, 25-18, 25-14: Shelley Towner and Fesi Zaifigano combined for 18 kills and 38 assists to help West defeat Cyprus in straight sets.

GRANGER DEF. OLYMPUS 25-16, 25-13, 25-19: Casey Speredon had 18 kills, Tracy Leota had 27 assists and Liz Saena had seven digs to lead Granger.

REGION 10

MORGAN DEF. UINTAH 22-25, 25-15, 27-25, 26-24: Chelsey Garfield led the Trojans with 23 kills, six solo blocks, six service points and an ace.

REGION 17
