"I don't know what happened when I left, but everything changed. He turned into a different person when I left, I guess," she said. "He was lying to me the whole time I was deployed. I left a totally different person. Obviously, I would have never been with somebody like this. I don't know if it was something he was hiding and I just didn't see it or it's something he (became)."

Ferrando is scheduled to report back to the Army on Sept. 11. Although she might be able to apply for a hardship and stay in Utah, she said Jade will be in good hands this time with her parents and it would be better to go back into active duty to earn money to help her daughter.

"That's the whole reason I got in (the Army) was to take care of her. If I'd (stay home) I'd be back at ground zero," she said. "My best bet right now is probably try and stay in (the Army), get everything rearranged. As soon as I have all my stuff organized I'll bring (Jade) with me. I just gotta organize all my things. He left me a big ol' mess."

A trust fund for Jade has been set up at American First Credit Union.

Bowden is scheduled for another court appearance today before 3rd District Judge Ann Boyden.
