Orem man is accused of having sex with teen

PROVO — A 22-year-old Orem man is in custody after he was accused of having sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl he met at a roller-skating rink.

The girl told a friend she had met the man six or seven months ago at Classic Skate on 250 S. State in Orem, according to a police report filed in 4th District Court.

A few months later, their late-night meetings began to include kissing and then sexual activity, according to the report. The friend told the girl's father, and the girl was later interviewed by police.

During the interview, the girl said she and the man also started to meet at other locations, including Westmore Elementary School at 1150 S. Main in Orem, late in the evening and early in the morning, according to the report.

The man was arrested Wednesday for investigation of sodomy of a child, sexual abuse of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is being held in the Utah County Jail on $10,000 cash-only bond.

The man was interviewed by police and said he knew the girl but denied any sexual contact with the girl or any other young teenager at Classic Skating, the report said.

Police have interviewed the man twice based on allegations from other 13-year-old girls, according to the report.
