UTAH (0-0, 0-0) at UCLA (0-0, 0-0)

Today, 5 p.m.

Rose Bowl

TV: FSN Radio: 700AM

Last week: Season opener for both teams.

Last meeting: UCLA won, 27-14, in Los Angeles in 1974.

Trends to watch: The Utes have won four straight against teams from the Pac-10 ... The Bruins are coming off a 10-win season, but must replace the talented trio of quarterback Drew Olson, tailback Maurice Jones-Drew and tight end Marcedes Lewis ... UCLA's offense averaged 39 points per game in 2005. The defense, however, gave up 34.

Players to watch: Both quarterbacks. Utah's Brett Ratliff is 2-0 as a starter, leading the Utes to victories over BYU and Georgia Tech last season. Former BYU redshirt Ben Olson makes his first collegiate start as a 23-year-old sophomore for UCLA.

Utah will win if ... The Utes are able to get to Olson early and rattle him. All-America candidate Eric Weddle leads the charge. Offensively, Utah needs to establish a ground attack with Mike Liti and Darryl Poston carrying the load.

UCLA will win if ... The Bruins play defense. They ranked 116th in rushing defense, 113th in total defense and 108th in scoring defense last season. Olson's performance is critical on offense.

Extra points: The Utes received 52 votes in the preseason AP poll. UCLA had none ... Since 2001, Utah has defeated four Pac-10 foes—USC (2001), California (2003), Oregon (2003) and Arizona (2004-05) ... UCLA coach Karl Dorrell enters his fourth season at the helm with a 22-15 record ... Utah coach Kyle Whittingham is 7-5 after one season.
