Dan Dolan, a 19-year-old soldier from Roy, died in Iraq on Sunday, just one week after Marine Cpl. Adam A. Galvez, 21, was killed.
"We're just devastated," Timothy Dolan, his father, told the Deseret Morning News by telephone shortly after a military notification team left the family's home on Tuesday. Also there were the young man's mother and sister.
"He was proud," Timothy Dolan said. "He was proud to serve his country."
According to a report posted on KSL's Web site and originating with the Standard Examiner, Dan Dolan entered the Army just after graduating from Roy High School in 2005.
The family was told he was killed in an ambush.
A Pentagon spokesman said information about the casualty would be posted on the Internet 24 hours after the final notification of the family. That delay was "a matter of law," he said.
