SANDY Flames from a brush fire burned a little too close for comfort Monday afternoon, as they came to within about 30 feet of one home.
Two homes were evacuated near 1300 East and 10200 South as firefighters worked to contain the fire, which burned a total of about four acres, said Sandy Fire Chief Don Rosenkrantz.
"Crews got there just in time and were able to set up and knock down the fire at the top of the hill," he said. "It was a quick recovery."
The fire began at the bottom of a gully around 4:15 p.m. Rosenkrantz said the winds swept it up the steep hill quickly, and against the yards of the two homes.
Several agencies were called to assist in fighting the fire, and there were no injuries. Residents were allowed back into their homes within two hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
