Kendra and Maliyah Herrin spent a quiet weekend healing at Primary Children's Medical Center intensive care unit.

The girls, 4, were surgically separated in a 26-hour marathon operation Aug. 7 and 8. They were born joined at the abdomen and doctors had to divide organs and do reconstructive work.

"They're doing really well," said Bonnie Midget, hospital spokeswoman. "They had a quiet weekend."

The girls are the daughters of Jake and Erin Herrin of North Salt Lake.

It's not certain how long they will be in intensive care, but after they leave the unit they will be in the hospital for several more weeks.
