Because of the success of last month's "BOGO" (Buy One, Get One free) sale at the Humane Society of Utah, and since the shelter is still receiving record numbers of cats and kittens, the special two-for-one offer is being extended through the end of August for all felines.
Anyone who adopts a cat or kitten for the regular price can get for free any other feline whose adoption fee would ordinarily be the same as or less than that of the adopted animal.
For example, the standard fee for a kitten 4 months of age or younger is $70. If someone adopts a kitten at that price, he or she can also take home a second kitten at no charge or could alternately choose to also adopt, for free, an adult cat with a regular adoption fee of $49.
"These last hot weeks of summer are called the 'dog days,"' says HSU Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt, "But we'd like to make them extra-special days for our many felines who need good homes. Two cats or kittens are twice the fun, and, at half the price, you can't find a better deal anywhere in town."
The adoption fees include the animals' spay or neuter operations and first immunizations, de-worming, and cardboard carriers, plus a complete physical examination at any of several participating private veterinary clinics along the Wasatch Front. For more information, call 261-2919.
