A man police found standing on the hood of a moving car and punching the vehicle was arrested after being zapped twice with a Taser.

About 3 a.m. Thursday an officer spotted the man on top of a car traveling 10 to 15 mph near 6200 West and 4100 South, said West Valley police Capt. Tom McLachlan.

After police stopped the car, the man on the hood began angrily yelling at the officer and then "displayed his genitals", McLachlan said.

The man then approached the officer in a threatening manner and ignored his commands to stop, he said. The officer used his Taser on the man, causing him to fall backward and strike his head. The man suffered a minor cut, McLachlan said.

After the charge from the Taser was over, the man tried to get up and go at the officer again, McLachlan said. The Taser probes were still in him, however, and the officer shocked him again. This time, the man stopped fighting and surrendered.

The incident reportedly began at a party where the man was very intoxicated and had a "difference of opinion" with the driver who was trying to get away, McLachlan said. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of intoxication, disorderly conduct, assault, criminal mischief, lewdness and resisting arrest.
