KSL Radio falls toward No. 2

Sister station KSFI rising near the No. 1 spot in Arbitron

KSL (AM-1160/FM-102,7) remains the No. 1 station in the market, but its lead has diminished, and if this downward trend continues, it could soon end up No. 2.

The latest Arbitron rating estimates the "Spring Book," for listeners ages 12-plus, has KSL on top with 6.7 percent of the listening audience. Sister station KSFI ("FM-100") is second at 6.5 percent. KSL dropped 0.9 of a percentage point from the spring book of 2005 to now, while KSFI is actually up 0.2 of a point.

KUBL (FM-93.3) has fallen even further, losing 1.1 percentage point of its audience in the past year. However, that station remains in third place at 5.2 percent. KXRK ("X96") is close behind at 5.1 percent and KZHT (FM-97.1) rounds out the top five at 4.8 percent.

• NEW FM STATION — Another "new" FM station is coming to the Salt Lake market, possibly sometime in the coming months.

According to G. Craig Hanson, Simmons Media President, a station in Tremonton, Box Elder County, is simulcasting KEGA ("The Eagle") at FM-100.7.
