OREM — Marty Val Hill, a lecturer at Utah Valley State College, was recently named the National Speakers Association's Outstanding Professor of the Year.

The award was announced July 21 at the association's annual convention in Orlando, Fla. It will be presented to Hill early this fall on the UVSC campus by an NSA representative. The award includes a plaque and a $2,000 check.

"As an educator, to be appreciated by your students is the greatest honor," Hill said. "I am humbled by receiving this award that combines recognition from both my students and my peers in the professional speaking business."

The association honors professors nationally who have demonstrated an academic commitment to the public speaking profession and have shown commitment through effective collegiate teaching or through research that has increased understanding of public speaking or presentations.
