Avid outdoorsman and TV personality Doug Miller was being kept in a drug-induced coma Monday while his body battled a serious infection, according to the KUTV-Channel 2 Web site.
Miller has worked in broadcasting for more than 30 years, including time at KSL-TV and his current stint with KUTV. Known for his stories of outdoor adventure, he hosts the weekly program "Outdoors with Doug Miller" and makes regular appearances on various radio shows.
Because of federal privacy laws, little information regarding his health had been released as of Monday night.
