Occupancy rates at Utah hotels rose to 75.9 percent in June, up from 72.5 percent in the same month last year, according to the Rocky Mountain Lodging report.

The average daily room rate in June rose to $80.47, up from $73.14.

In Salt Lake City, the occupancy rate for the month was 77.4 percent, an increase from 73.6 percent during June 2005. The average room rate in Salt Lake City in June was $82.87, a rise from $76.90.

Occupancy rates between 70 percent and 75 percent are considered good for a typical hotel, according to Robert Benton, sponsor of the lodging report. Rates surpassing 80 percent indicate an establishment can raise room rates.
