OREM The Orem City Council has postponed a presentation to the public about the feasibility of a division of Alpine School District.
The feasibility-study presentation was originally scheduled for July 25. The educational consultant who is studying the feasibility had to reschedule for Aug. 8. And now it's been rescheduled again.
Michael Bennett was hired to study an Orem district, an Orem and Vineyard district, an Orem and Lindon district, an Orem, Lindon and Vineyard district, and an Orem, Lindon, Vineyard and Pleasant Grove district.
The City Council on Friday cancelled the Aug. 8 presentation after members received copies of the study and decided they wanted more data.
"It didn't have all the financial questions that were being raised by the City Council," Councilman Dean Dickerson said.
In particular, Orem wants to know what school-construction debt the new Orem district would have to assume if Alpine District is split.
The feasibility study will be presented before Aug. 22. The City Council's plan is to present the study to the public, then vote on whether to put the issue on the November ballot for voters to decide whether they want to split from the Alpine School District.
