Salt Lake sheriff's group backs candidates

The Salt Lake County Deputy Sheriffs Federation said it is endorsing Democratic candidate Jim Winder for Salt Lake County sheriff, Republican Lohra Miller for Salt Lake district attorney and Democrat Jim Bradley for the at-large seat on the county council in the general election.

"We of the Salt Lake County Deputy Sheriff's Federation feel (these) candidates will best serve the citizens and communities of Salt Lake County," said Shawn Roberts, president of the federation, following a membership vote on Tuesday.

The federation counts 140 sheriff's deputies as members.
