Not only is there a shortage of teachers in general, but there is an even greater shortage of teachers of color and teachers qualified to teach English language learners. Yet, our English language learner student population is exploding and will continue to do so.
We must make the commitment as a state to not only address ways to solve this general teacher shortage but also to intentionally address the shortage of qualified teachers for English language learners.
All of our children are our future.
