MEMPHIS Kasey Olenberger tossed seven shutout innings to lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 6-1 win over the Memphis Redbirds on Wednesday night. Olenberger (5-2), who had a season-high six strikeouts, did not allow a hit until Shawn Garrett led off the sixth inning with a double down the right field line. It was the fourth outing this season that he pitched six or more scoreless innings. The win was the sixth consecutive road win for the Bees, which equals a franchise record.
The Bees grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third on a two out, run scoring triple by Tommy Murphy, who had two hits on the night. They led 2-0 when they broke the game open with a three-run sixth inning on an RBI single by Nick Gorneault and a two-run homer by Jeff Mathis, which extended his hitting streak to nine games. Kendry Morales added two hits and scored two runs, as Salt Lake stretches its Pacific North lead to five and a half games, as Tacoma dropped a 4-3 decision to New Orleans.
