HELENA — Sunday, for the second time in three days, the Orem Owlz defeated host Helena by a 3-1 score. The win completed Orem's four-game sweep of the Brewers.

Sean O'Sullivan pitched six scoreless innings and Christopher Pettit smacked a two-run home run to lead the Owlz to victory.

Orem took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the fifth inning when Douglas Reinhardt and Ryan Mount hit back-to-back doubles.

The Owlz extended their advantage to 3-0 in the top of the eighth. Luis Rivera doubled to lead off the inning, and Pettit followed him with a two-run shot into the netting beyond left field.

Helena responded in the home half of the eighth with what turned out to be its only run of the game. The Brewers had runners on second and third with no outs but only managed to push across one run. Orem's Barret Browning relieved Jared Inicinelli mid-inning; Browning quickly quelled the Helena rally and pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save of the year.

O'Sullivan was nothing short of masterful in his six innings of work, facing only two batters above the minimum. His heavy two-seam fastball induced nine groundouts, and he struck out three without allowing a walk.

Orem is tied with Idaho Falls for first place in the Pioneer League Southern Division.

The Owlz return home from a seven-game road trip to host Casper tonight at 7 p.m.

In other Pioneer League action:

OSPREY 3, RAPTORS 1: At Missoula, pitcher Luis Caro gave up just one run in seven innings to lead the Osprey to the home victory on Sunday. Ogden managed only five hits for the game — two by second baseman Parker Brooks. The Raptors are now 15-18 on the season, while Missoula improved to 15-17.
