GRETCHEN LEGLER, lesbian author of "On the Ice" (about Antartica) will read from her book and sign copies, Saturday, 7 p.m., Gay-Lesbian-Bisexual-Tri-Gender Center (GLBT Center), 3rd North and 3rd West.

CALVIN TRILLIN, syndicated columnist, is also the author of numerous satirical books, including "Obliviously On He Sails," "The Bush Administration in Rhyme," "Too Soon to Tell" and "With All Disrespect." His latest, "The Tummy Trilogy," is a compilation of his humorous gastronomic journeys across North America. He has also written five novels, the most recent being, "Tepper Isn't Going Out."

Trillin will also deliver the prestigious DEWEY LECTURE, Saturday, Aug. 5, 7:30 p.m., auditorium, Salt Lake City Main Library, 210 E. 400 South. Free tickets to the lecture will be available, Saturday, July 29, at all City Library locations. Tickets for a pre-lecture reception with Trillin can be purchased at the Library Store for $50 each, or four or more for $35 each (524-8200).
