Citizens for Dixie are right to oppose the Washington County public lands bill. There is an apparent quid pro quo going on between Nevada and Utah politicians. Nevada's Harry Reid will support the Washington County bill to sell off our 40 square miles of public land and bring in water from shrinking Lake Powell. In return, Utah politicians will turn their backs on residents of Utah by allowing Las Vegas to mine water from the aquifer underneath Snake Valley in Utah's western desert.
Developers and speculators get rich while residents lose their quality of life. If this passes, we on the Wasatch Front can look forward to dust storms blowing in from the western desert.
The Green Party is offering an alternative to this bipartisan chicanery and environmental irresponsibility. In November, vote Bob Brister for Congress.
