Utah Valley's first home game is against Dixie State, a school in its first year of Division II competition, on Sept. 9. The Wolverines also host UTEP, Centenary, Eastern Washington, Idaho State, North Dakota State and South Dakota State.

The road schedule consists of games at Boise State, Idaho, Gonzaga, Utah State, IPFW and neutral-site games against Tulsa, Montana and New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Gonzaga played in last year's NCAA tournament.

UV plays Weber State — also an NCAA tournament team — and Westminster in exhibition games.

This year's United Soccer Conference tournament will be held at the University of Howard in Washington, D.C.

BYU cross country

There are plenty of annual standards for the BYU men's and women's cross country teams — as well as a few new-look meets — on tap to date for the Cougars.

Both teams will host the annual BYU Autumn Classic in early September, with Pre-Nationals and the NCAA Championships returning to Terre Haute, Ind. Also, the BYU women are back at the Great American Cross Country Festival, but that event has been relocated from Cary, N.C., to Birmingham this year.

The men have dropped a regular appearance at the Roy Griak meet in Minnesota in favor of the University of Oregon invitational, which is also on the women's schedule. Also, the Cougar women will make a first-ever appearance at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic in Orlando.

The Mountain West Conference meet, contested last fall in Provo, moves to Salt Lake City this year, with the Mountain Regionals scheduled for Albuquerque.

Note: The 2006 UVSC cross country schedule was not available at press time.
